Our Parenting Philosophy

After trying to have a child for many years, we decided that creating a family through open adoption would be a wonderful way to go.  We see open adoption as a special choice that puts the child first and requires a deep and caring commitment from everyone involved.

As parents-to-be, we feel our role is to love and treasure a child and create an environment of acceptance, encouragement, learning, stimulation, and compassion so that the child can blossom into a joyful, healthy and fulfilled adult. We will help build our child’s self-confidence and self-esteem, lifelong tools that we feel are keys to success and contentment. We will encourage our child to discover their world in their own unique way, finding their own special talents and passions.

We know that children can learn while also having fun. For our niece’s birthday one year, we took her to a place where she could paint her own pottery and spent hours there, watching her paint a multi-colored horse!  We are excited to do the same with our child, playing, cooking, and exploring. And there is nothing like learning about animals through the San Francisco Zoo and cultures and art through the many fabulous museums in San Francisco.

Susan works from home and looks forward to being a stay-at-home mom.  We are fully committed to parenthood and will teach our child our values in faith, honesty and integrity, and the importance of having close relationships with family and friends and in giving back to the community.
